How much does it cost to get external help for an EcoVadis (re)assessment?
In brief
A full support engagement — from audit to actions, document creation, submission and up to the agreed medal level — runs two to four months and costs €7,500 to €12,000 excl. 21% VAT, depending on your size (XS or S) and your situation. Payment is spread over three instalments, and the balance is due only if the agreed level (Bronze or Silver) is reached. If it is not, ESG Interim Management continues to support you at no further cost through to your next assessment 12 months later.
Why this expertise is priced this way
The vast majority of consulting firms on the market employ junior consultants. They are full of ambition, motivation, ideals and ideology — and most of the time they arrive without understanding the reality of running an SME in Belgium. In fact, they come to learn; they come to intern with you.
ESG Interim Management is the exact opposite. As the team page shows (esgim.eu/a-propos), every ESGIM expert is a seasoned professional with several decades behind them. They know what it costs an SME to deploy a sustainability strategy — or even to find the time and people to complete a questionnaire.
Seniority is not the real difference, though. ESGIM experts are not consultants advising from a distance: they are interim managers who work on-site alongside your teams and take the work off your desk.
The price grid
Full EcoVadis support from audit to actions, to document creation, to submission and up to the agreed level. Prices in euros, excl. 21% VAT.
| Situation | XS (< 25 FTE) | S (26–99 FTE) |
|---|---|---|
| S3 — first assessment | 7,500 | 9,000 |
| S2 — downgrade | 9,000 | 12,000 |
| S1 — upgrade | 8,000 | 10,000 |
For upgrade situations (S1) there is usually already someone internally in charge, and what is needed is SME-specific expert advice rather than a full mission. The most logical offering is then 1, 2 or 3 days of remote expert analysis and advice: €1,500 for one day, €2,850 for two days, €3,750 for three days.
Payment in three instalments
- 20% at the start of the mission
- 60% upon submission of the EcoVadis questionnaire
- 20% (the balance) if and only if the agreed goal (Bronze or Silver) is achieved
If the agreed level is not reached, the balance is not due — and ESGIM continues to support you at no further cost through to your next assessment 12 months later.
Which situation are you in?
- S1 (upgrade): an XS company secured a Fast Mover or Committed badge autonomously and seeks advice to move up to Bronze; or an S company achieved Bronze at its first assessment and realises that reaching Silver (and later Gold) requires expert advice.
- S2 (downgrade): an XS company secured Bronze at its first assessment, did not progress, and was downgraded to a Committed badge the following year; or an S company held Silver, did not progress (or the person in charge of EcoVadis left), was downgraded to Bronze and wants to move back to Silver. The latter is the main target.
- S3 (first assessment): an XS company is suddenly asked to start an EcoVadis rating assessment. It has no idea what this is, and no time or resources to invest in it.
Other combinations of size and badge/medal are possible; size is not the main parameter. The main parameter is whether it is a first assessment, a desire to upgrade, or a bit of panic after a downgrade.
